ADMATIS Ltd. in Miskolc is developing amaterials technology that could be used in the production of building materials for extraterrestial human bases. The necessary raw material would largely be sourced locally from the Moon’s surface, specifically from the fine dust known as regolith. To create building elements, a special foaming technology would be used—one that can be tested on the International Space Station. An early version of the equipment required for this process was already successfully tested in space back in 2010. The foamed materials mixed with lunar dust are expected to be lightweight yet extremely strong. As part of the HUNOR Program, ground-based experiments are already underway using materials that closely resemble lunar dust.
